25 Days of Merry Day 4: “A Christmas Carol”

As previously announced here, each day I will be posting a film to get you in the Christmas spirit. Each film is picked strategically based on what I believe will excite you closer and closer to the big day.

Time for the first of two rakes on the Dickens classic.

I do love this film, but I think it is one that isn’t as great as it could have been. I feel Disney tried to find a way to update the classic story for all families and children to appreciate without it being too dark or dialogue heavy. It amped up the extravagant animation for some of the traditional dialogue.

However, onto why I love this movie. Following the likes of The Holiday and the look of Christmas in England, this film offers a look into traditional England at that time and it is stunning. Through superb animation and exciting visuals, the film offers a unique look at the Dickens tale.

Jim Carrey is excellent and offers a different side to his legacy at Christmas outside of The Grinch. You will feel immense Holiday joy when this film is over and it will make you want to deck those damn halls.

21 Days until Christmas!
